Build your own children’s clothes rail

Children's clothing rail DIY

Jennieke and her husband were looking for a clothing rail for their young daughter. The family love the combination of steel and natural materials, so they decided to use tube and fittings to go with the room décor.

The freestanding clothes rail was easy to assemble and could be customised to accommodate the height of a child.

How to build your own

If you feel inspired, this is a very easy DIY project that can be done in no time.

This article shows you how to put together a 1m x 1m clothing rack.

DIY Children's clothing rail tools you need

What tools do you need?

This article refers to a size 6 tube (outside diameter of 33.7mm, inside diameter of 25mm).

How to put everything together

Just use a hex key to put these together and you are done!

Follow the scheme below as a reference:

Step 1

Take one 0.8m tube and insert a 90° Side outlet tee (21 fitting) at each end.

Step 2

Take your 0.4m tubes and insert them into the same 90° Side outlet tee (21 fitting).

Step 3

At the end of each 0.4m tubes, use a 90° Elbow joing (15 fitting).

Step 4

Install your 1m tubes.

Step 5

Connect the second 0.8m tube to the rest of the frame using the remaining 90° Elbow joing (15 fitting).
